AWFS Fair 2011 offers seminars for wood manufacturing technology teachers

The Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers created a special Teacher Track at AWFS Fair 2011, which includes four sessions targeted specifically to the needs of teachers in wood manufacturing technology programs.

The first session, Cutting Tool Applications, will take place on Thursday, July 21, and will cover a variety of cutting tools for both CNC and manual operations. Two sessions will be held on Friday, July 22. The first, Teaching Frameless Cabinetry, will cover topics such as field measuring, sales, design, engineering, machining, assembly, finishing and installation of full-access cabinetry. The second, Software Technology for Educators, will provide a contemporary perspective on machine software with representatives from Planit and Microvellum providing new product demonstrations. The workshop, Using Industry Standards as Teaching Guides, will conclude on July 23, with the Woodwork Career Alliance and a panel discussion for teachers.

AWFS offers an Educational Institute Membership that allows teachers to attend the Teacher Track seminars, as well as any of the regular seminars, for free.
